Poland shoots down Russian drones after 'unprecedented airspace violation'
Poland's armed forces say the country's airspace was "repeatedly violated by drone-type objects" during Russia's strikes on western Ukraine
It says some of these objects have been downed, marking the first time the Nato country has directly engaged Russian assets in its airspace since Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022
A military operation has ended after Polish and Nato aircraft were deployed, while Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called an emergency meeting

The drones that entered Poland were part of the latest major aerial attack on Ukraine, with President Zelensky calling the "escalation" an "extremely dangerous precedent for Europe"
